Louis Reuss was from 1857 - 1872 Oberforst council and head of the forestry administration of the princes Sayn - Wittgenstein - Hohenstein. He was set the monument because he had made sure that in Wittgenstein spruces were planted. Which grew faster than oaks and beech, thereby faster money could be earned with wood.
