The small town of Kranjska Gora is active all year round. Nestled in the mountains, in winter it is the heart of ski jumping and in summer it is filled with cyclists and walkers exploring the Alps and surrounding lakes. At the end of the day, you can rest in one of the numerous restaurants and taste krapi, a type of ravioli, filled with ricotta and often served with polenta.

• In Kranjska Gora lived and worked the writer Josip Vandot, who brought to life the most important character of Slovenian children's folklore – the little shepherd Kekec. This is not just an ordinary fairy tale; the locals treat Kekec like a national hero who outsmarted the evil poacher Bedanc and the crazy herbalist Pehta. To this day, the hidden "Land of Kekec" (Kekčeva dežela) can be found in the surrounding forests, and these raw mountain tales have shaped the imagination of generations of Slovenians.
