The original building was constructed between 1770 and 1773, funded by King Frederick II of Prussia. It was situated in the center of the then market square.
Unfortunately, the historic town hall did not survive World War II. In 1945, it was destroyed and subsequently demolished. In its place, a square with a fountain was established.
It was not until the 1990s that the decision was made to rebuild it. The new town hall, now inaugurated, is a faithful replica of the original building.
