Around the old town, visitors will find impressive remains of the old city fortifications. They served as a separation between the town hall and the cathedral city. The Marientor, which is well worth seeing, is the only remaining city gate.

Renaissance building (1517-1528) using the parts of the predecessors that were spared by the fire. Particularly striking are the Zwerchgiebel in forms of the early Renaissance also called "Welsche Giebel" and the main portal with Electoral Saxon coat of arms of 1612. Today, the city administration Naumburg has its seat in the historic building.
