This gravel path is a nice alternative to the original Gera cycle path between Elxleben and Walschleben (which has many bumps). You drive nicely alongside the Gera dike, and at the end of the path there is a romantic pond.

The Free State of Thuringia has built a gravel path along the dike. In this way, the dike can be approached and observed in the event of a flood. There are also plans to give the river more space and to relocate the dike. Then this path here is the highest edge of the shore. Information about the planning and a competition for children is available at blickpunkt-geraue.de.
