    Hiking

There is an excellent primitive backcountry campsite here next to one of the branches of Toms Creek. The campsite is near the intersection of two forest roads and is right off the side of the trail.

Embark on an easy hike along the Toms Creek Falls Trail, a refreshing journey through Pisgah National Forest. This route spans 3.0 miles (4.9 km) and involves a gentle climb of 375 feet (114 metres), typically taking about 1 hour and 23 minutes to complete. As you walk, you will find yourself immersed in a lush forest leading to the impressive multi-cascade falls. The path offers a pleasant atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed outing.

Accessing the Toms Creek Falls Trail is straightforward, with parking generally available right at the trailhead. The main path leading to the base of the falls is designed to be accessible for many visitors. You will discover a handicap-accessible observation deck, providing a good view of the waterfall. For those who wish for a closer look, stairs are also available.

The highlight of this trail is undoubtedly the 80 to 100-foot multi-cascade Toms Creek Falls, which tumbles gracefully over granite bedrock. Along the way, you might spot vibrant rhododendrons and mountain laurels, adding color to the forest. Keep an eye out for sparkling mica deposits near the falls, remnants of old mines, which add a unique historical and geological touch to your experience.
