For a long time, the city was accessible from the east via the Old Feldkirchner Gate. The expansion of the former city gate into three living rooms separated by half-timbered walls probably took place in 1434.

Hiking

In 1362, Duke Meinhard of Bavaria authorized the construction of a large-scale expansion of the city. Construction began on the eastern side of the city, and the Feldkirchen Gate was built in 1368. Duke Ludwig the Bearded of Bavaria-Ingolstadt began construction of the New Palace in 1418, incorporating the Feldkirchen Gate, which is why it has remained part of the palace complex to this day.

Hiking

The Feldkirchner Tour was built in 1368 as the first of the four main gates of the new city wall. Construction of the new city wall subsequently began. The ring was completed around 1420 on the south side of the city. Apart from the Feldkirchner Tour, only the Kreuztor (Cross Gate) from 1385 remains of the old gates today.
