Twann (Duana) is first mentioned in 1136. Archbishop Humbert von Besançon and the Bishop of Basel confirmed a donation to the Lützel monastery in Alsace. Berchtold von Twann is listed in the deed of donation. The church, which is only mentioned in 1228, is dedicated to St. Dedicated to Martin. At that time, she belonged to the Deanery of Solothurn of the Diocese of Lausanne.
