Embark on a moderate mountain biking adventure through Sila National Park with the Gariglione Loop. This 18.8-mile (30.2 km) route takes you along the Tacina River, offering 1930 feet (588 metres) of elevation gain over about 2 hours and 52 minutes. You'll ride past ancient trees like secular beech, larch pines, and white firs, experiencing the park's rich biodiversity. A highlight is the dramatic "Manca del Diavolo" gorge, where the Soleo tributary meets the Tacina, before you reach the C.A.I. L. Grandinetti Refuge.
Planning your visit is straightforward, as the Gariglione Loop is a circuit trail that starts and ends at roughly the same point. You will find a convenient parking area near the starting location, making access easy for your mountain biking trip. The Rifugio Leone Grandinetti also serves as a significant landmark and a welcoming spot along the way.
This route, also known as the Valle del Tacina e Rifugio Leone Grandinetti – giro ad anello nel Parco Nazionale della Sila, offers a complete circuit of the area. It is suitable for various skill levels, allowing many to enjoy the natural beauty of the Sila National Park. The trail is also a notable segment of Italy's extensive Sentiero Italia.
