Two US F-100 Super Sabre jet fighters crash in poor visibility on the west slope of the Boßler, 60 meters below the ridge. Pilots Lawrence Herdman and John Reeder, as well as forest workers Hermann Drexler, Karl and Fritz Bachhofer die, forest master Max Zeyher survives seriously injured.
