The Mariagrot in Olsene is one of the earliest examples of a local interpretation of a Lourdes grotto. The grotto was consecrated on May 28, 1876. After almost 150 years, the Mariagrot of Olsene has been thoroughly restored and inaugurated on April 30, 2023.
According to local residents, there would be an access to a tunnel at the back of the grotto that leads directly to Olsene Castle. No entrance has been found so far.

Lourdes grotto (local interpretation of the grotto in Lourdes) founded and consecrated in 1876, which was built in the context of the enormous devotion to Mary at the end of the 19th century (also and especially in Flanders), where numerous Mary processions took place in the month of May.
