Running
Enjoy sensational views down the glistening River Shannon from Costume Bridge. It's a six-span wrought-iron railway bridge built in 1850 to replace the original bridge built by Sir Henry Sidney in 1566. Before these two bridges were built, the people of Athlone had to cross the river using stepping stones.
