An avenue of tall old linden trees and Stations of the Cross lead east from Axtheid-Berg to the hill where the pilgrimage church stands. The church, built from 1823 to 1827, has a retracted choir closed on three sides with a pressed barrel and lunettes. The nave was rebuilt in 1849 and expanded again and again until 1862. The ridge turret with pointed helmet sits in the west.
Behind the apse under a projecting roof is a sacred tomb with the wooden figure of the body of Christ.
