Rock Creek Trail

Start your hike on the Rock Creek and Roadside Trail Loop, a moderate route that takes you through a lush boreal forest. You will find cool, shaded sections as you walk, with opportunities to spot wildlife like moose and black bears among the blueberries and wildflowers. The trail offers fantastic ridge-line views of Mount Healy and panoramic vistas of the Alaska Range from its more open sections. This 5.3-mile (8.5 km) loop involves a total elevation gain of 548 feet (167 metres) and typically takes about 2 hours and 22 minutes to complete.

You can easily access the Rock Creek and Roadside Trail Loop from the Denali Visitor Center, and it also connects directly to the Denali Sled Dog Kennels. This makes it simple to combine your hike with other activities within the park. While the route is generally accessible, be aware that some sections can be steep, especially on the Rock Creek Trail portion. Consider starting early to enjoy cooler temperatures and fewer crowds.

This loop provides an excellent way to explore the front country of Denali National Park & Preserve.
