The old cemetery was laid out in 1839 and used for all burials until 1930. Famous Schorndorf personalities such as Prime Minister Dr. Reinhold Maier and the painter Ina Krämer found their final resting place here. In addition, the old cemetery in the middle of Schorndorf is a shady spot on warm summer days. The laid-out paths through the cemetery and seating invite you to linger.

Schorndorf became known as the Daimler city: in 1834 Gottlieb Daimler, the inventor of the "light, fast-running petrol engine" was born here. The historic town center of Schorndorf is a listed building as a whole. The historic old town and especially the market square with the market fountain and numerous historic half-timbered houses are among the most beautiful in Germany.
