In 1996 it was named “Gerrit Jan Honigsluis” as a tribute to the researcher of Zaan history. The lock connects the Westzanerpolder and the Guisveld with the Zaan.
Furthermore, this location also offers a beautiful view of the Zaanse Schans and access to the pedestrian ferry that sails between Zaandijk and the Zaanse Schans.
