Embark on an easy hike through the Parco Provinciale Monte Moria, a ring tour that takes you through dense forests and ancient chestnut groves. You'll find natural shade along the path, which is a mix of unpaved sections and some asphalt. As you ascend, look forward to spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding valley. This route covers 3.2 miles (5.2 km) with an elevation gain of 713 feet (217 metres), making it an accessible adventure for most. It typically takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete.
This trail is enjoyable in all seasons, offering a different experience throughout the year. You can witness the awakening of nature in spring or seek cool shade during the summer months. Autumn brings vibrant colors to the expansive beech forests and conifer stands, while winter offers opportunities for snowshoeing. The path is generally considered easy, suitable for various fitness levels and accessible to most hikers.
The Parco Provinciale Monte Moria, spanning over 1000 hectares, was established in the 1920s to preserve its extensive woodland heritage. It is recognized as a well-preserved natural environment, rich in characteristic spontaneous flora. The Croce dei Segni, the trail's destination, marks the highest peak in the park at 1073 meters (3,520 feet). Interestingly, the park also served as a cinematic backdrop in 1968 for the outdoor scenes of the RAI miniseries "La Freccia Nera" (The Black Arrow).
