This was a thorn in the side of Nazi groups. In 1938, the figure was destroyed and buried – one year before the outbreak of World War II.
In the 1970s, the statue was accidentally rediscovered, restored, and placed in its current location at the Stiftskirche in 1981 as a memorial against injustice and violence.
