The Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Penha, located at the top of Serra da Penha, is one of Portalegre's most emblematic viewpoints, offering a privileged panoramic view over the city at an altitude of 651 meters. Originally built in 1620 and completed in its current form in 1635, the chapel is an example of the popular Baroque style and attracts visitors both for its simple architecture and interior frescoes and for its extensive polychrome marble staircase.
