    Hiking

Incredible remote and quiet campground on Kintla Lake. The dirt road that leads you here is not in the best shape and is very bumpy. The campground itself offers simple amenities.

Embark on a moderate hike along the Kintla Lake Head trail, a 6.1-mile (9.9 km) route that offers a peaceful journey through shaded paths and rolling hills. You will gain 316 feet (96 metres) in elevation, typically taking about 2 hours and 36 minutes to complete. As you hike, enjoy clear views across the turquoise waters of Kintla Lake, with majestic Long Knife Peak and Parke Peak rising in the distance. The path is often adorned with wildflowers, adding vibrant color to your wilderness experience.

Reaching the Kintla Lake Head trailhead requires careful planning, as it is located deep within Glacier National Park. Expect a drive of approximately 40 miles (64 km) on unpaved, bumpy roads from the park's west entrance. This remote setting means you should be fully prepared for a true wilderness outing. Always carry bear spray and understand how to use it, as both grizzly and black bears are common in this area.

This trail provides a genuine wilderness experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of Glacier National Park. Beyond the lake views, you will also encounter sweeping vistas of the Boundary Mountains and the impressive Kintla Peak. The remote location ensures a sense of solitude, making it an ideal choice if you seek a tranquil escape from more crowded areas of the park.
