From Camigliatello Silano to Monte Scuro and Monte Botte Donato along the Strada delle Vette – ring tour

Embark on a difficult racebike ring tour from Camigliatello Silano, covering 37.8 miles (60.8 km) with a significant 3876 feet (1181 metres) of elevation gain. This challenging route, typically completed in 3 hours and 17 minutes, takes you through the mountainous Sila National Park, often called the "Calabrian Alps." You will ride through dense woodlands of Calabrian pine and beech, experiencing soft hilly ridges and airy valleys, with panoramic views of artificial lakes like Lake Arvo and Lake Cecita. The highlight is ascending towards Monte Scuro and Monte Botte Donato, the highest point of the Sila plateau at 1928 meters, where on clear days you might even spot Mount Etna.

This demanding ring tour requires a very good fitness level, as it features challenging climbs along the Strada delle Vette. While most surfaces are well-paved, be aware that some segments may be unpaved or gravel, which can be difficult to navigate on a road bike. The route starts and ends in Camigliatello Silano, making it convenient for planning your ride.

The Sila National Park is a UNESCO MAB Reserve, known as the "green lung of Calabria," offering an unspoiled natural environment. This trail provides some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the region, making it a notable cycling experience. It is also part of a wider network of cycling options within the park, with some sections intersecting the longer "Ciclovia dei Parchi della Calabria."
