Hiking

In the summer of 2005, a former army camp was discovered here by chance, while cutting the sods of the heath. A whole network of wells was exposed. These were the filled-in post holes of the observation and training camp, established in 1831 by the Belgian Army. For practical reasons, this camp moved to Leopoldsburg (the 'Camp of Beverlo') after only four years, in 1835, where it still lies today.
