Rovinj is a Croatian port city on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. The old town, whose houses are crowded close to the water, is located on a promontory. Winding, cobbled streets lead up to the church of St. Euphemia on a hill, whose high spire characterizes the cityscape. South of the old town is Lone Bay, one of the many pebble beaches in the region. Just off the mainland are the 14 islands of the Rovinj archipelago.
