Opened in 1984, it crosses the strait that connects Loch Glencoul and Loch Glendhu with Loch Cairnbawn. Before it existed, to continue along this coast, one had to use a ferry, a service that had been operating since the early 19th century. The bridge, made of concrete and about 276 m long, was designed by Ove Arup & Partners and partially funded by the European Economic Community. Today it is one of the most recognizable points on the Assynt route and offers spectacular views over the lochs and mountains.

The structure seen in the photograph is a small memorial to the Kylesku Bridge, whose shape alludes to the bridge's characteristic curve. The plaque recalls that its construction replaced the old ferry that crossed this sea arm since the beginning of the century.
