Since the Middle Ages, the so-called "Willow Cross" has been intended to protect the village of Kriegsdorf from bad harvests, protect it from evil and, on top of that, keep unbelievers away. Since 1821 it was a landmark and a trigonometric point. Now it has been renovated again after repeated vandalism. It stands on municipal land and the city has spent around 860 euros for the recent repair. Master blacksmith Hans Walter Brungs from Niederkassel-Mondorf took over the forging work.
