The floor of the Torre de la Vela measures 16 meters on each side and 26.80 meters high. The base is solid and has four floors with arches supported by pillars. For some time, this tower became a dwelling, so its appearance has changed from what it originally had. On the second floor it had battlements until the 16th century. The current location of the bell on the western façade dates from 1840 and had to be rebuilt later due to a lightning strike in 1882.

The Torre de la Vela (Watchtower) is located at the westernmost tip of the Alhambra. The 27 m high tower is easily recognizable by the flag decoration and the bell. In the past, he had, among other things, the function of warning the population with the mighty bell. Today you can enjoy a magnificent view over the whole of Granada and the Alhambra.
