The Unterspruchtenmühle was already in operation as a grinding mill in the 15th and 16th centuries. After it was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, it was restored in 1679, but then converted into a paper mill in 1687. In 1714 the Savoyarde Joh. Georg Quinat built the upper house with a dry floor.
In the middle of the 19th century, instead of high-quality paper, mainly packing and gilt paper was produced. From 1899 a rolling mill for copper foils was set up, the products of which went primarily to the Leonische works in Roth. The plant operated until 1961.
