Its location, somewhat isolated, far from major traffic routes, makes this place a haven of silence, peace and renewal. The oldest mention of Neunkirch dates from the 13th century. The discovery of a statuette of the Virgin Mary is at the origin of the pilgrimage. Legend has it that she was found by a shepherd and taken away nine times, but that she always returned to her original location.
