Hiking

The Cramignon is a traditional ring dance where the dancers hold each other's hands. The dancing people move hopping and zig-zagging through the streets while the harmony plays cheerful Cramignon music. The ring dance is still a lively tradition in eight villages in the border region between South Limburg and Belgium. The inhabitants look forward to it every year and are proud of it. That and more about the dance, its practitioners and its history on the information board (see photos).
Did you know: the ferry between Eijsden and Ternaaien was also named Cramignon. Really popular then.

Sculpture group of six dancing people. The Cramignon is a street, pendulum, rope or circle dance that was danced a few thousand years ago in Greece under the name „Choreia“ and had to cross many borders before it established itself in Eijsden. Here, the Cramignon is also called „rèj“.
