This part of the hike features two main beech tree tunnels: Kohonogi (the small beech tree tunnel) and Ohonogi (the big beech tree tunnel).
Both tunnels were used by the military during the Boshin war to allow the Shonai clan's army to get to the inner lands without being noticed.
