Hiking

One of the two parish churches of Montmartre. Its construction began in 1134 and it was consecrated in 1147 by the Pope himself.
After the basilica was built in 1876, the church was almost forgotten and completely abandoned. Successively the choir threatens to collapse, a section of wall collapses and the church is definitively closed in 1896, considered too dangerous and irreparable. In 1897, the situation changed and the municipal council decided to keep it completely, and an architect took over the restoration project which began in 1900 and lasted 5 years. Today the church is still active.

Hiking

The much older church (12th century!) on Montmartre stands in the shadow of the huge Sacré-Cœur basilica and also competes with the numerous restaurants, stalls, and painters looking for business. Accordingly, it is quiet when you take a detour into the simply designed interior of the church.
