    Hiking

Appears to be a former building with a memorial stone in it. Flashlight and helmet are required, as well as a guide if you want to go further in.

Attention danger of collapse! Everything at your own risk. We only went in briefly with a headlamp. It goes downhill at some point. We weren't in there.

    220m

Embark on an easy hiking loop through the Parco dell'Etna, starting from Piano Fiera. This route covers 4.1 miles (6.6 km) with a gentle elevation gain of 711 feet (217 metres), making it a perfect outing for nearly two hours of walking. You will immerse yourself in the natural, tree-filled landscape, enjoying splendid views of the volcano's western side and expansive meadows.

Your journey begins at Piano Fiera, a convenient and well-equipped rest area that offers tables and children's games. This spot serves as an important gateway to the wilder parts of Etna's western flank. You should find parking readily available at Piano Fiera, making your start to the hike straightforward and hassle-free.

As you hike, you will pass through the picturesque Bosco di Centorbi, which is the most extensive holm oak forest in the entire Etna region. Keep an eye out for blooming orchid species if you visit in spring. The trail also leads you past the renovated Case Zampini Hut, a closed forest refuge featuring a fireplace, adding a touch of history to your outdoor adventure.
