At the request of the group "Les Amis du Pigeon Soldat", formed in 1945 under the leadership of Gustave Bernard, the artist Alphonse Darville created a monument in homage to the Soldier Pigeon in the early 1950s. The memorial was inaugurated on November 11, 1951 and consists of a stone stele at the top of which a bronze pigeon (originally) takes flight.
