This unique worker-owned co-op offers a sanctuary for holistic and spiritual retreats, celebrated for its natural thermal mineral springs. Situated along the scenic West Cascades Scenic Byway, it lies about 10 miles east-northeast of Detroit and 12 miles northwest of the majestic Mount Jefferson, making it a remote haven in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.

Visitors consistently describe Breitenbush Hot Springs as a truly magical place, offering a profound sense of renewal and disconnection from the everyday. What draws people back is the unique blend of natural beauty, therapeutic hot springs, and a philosophy centered on personal growth and harmony with the environment. The retreat's commitment to sustainability, delicious vegetarian cuisine, and serene silent pools for reflection further enhance the experience, creating a healing and transformative atmosphere.

Before visiting, it's important to note the retreat's remote, off-grid nature; there is no cell service or Wi-Fi, encouraging a complete digital detox. The hot springs experience is clothing optional, and digital devices are generally not permitted in common areas to foster presence. Accommodation options range from rooms and cabins to yurts and platform tents, with many utilizing shared bathroom facilities. The natural thermal mineral springs are the heart of Breitenbush, with various soaking pools, including the unique Spiral Tubs and the tranquil Upper Meadow Pools, some designated for silent reflection. A natural sauna provides a steamy experience, often with cold plunges nearby. Beyond soaking, guests can engage in daily wellness programs like yoga, meditation, and various workshops. The surrounding ancient forests and the adjacent Breitenbush River offer opportunities for quiet contemplation and enjoying the natural features near Breitenbush Hot Springs throughout the year.

One of the most magical places I have ever experienced. Very alternative community where outsiders can also stay and enjoy for a fee.
Unfortunately, the retreat was almost completely destroyed in the fires of 2020, but is gradually being rebuilt and is now open again. We've been incredibly fortunate to be able to couchsurf with members of the community.

What is the pet policy at Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat and are there dog-friendly trails nearby?

Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat generally has a strict no-pet policy within the retreat grounds and accommodations to maintain its tranquil and natural environment. What are the parking arrangements at Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat?

Parking is available at Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat for guests. Given its popularity, especially during peak seasons, parking can fill up. It's advisable to arrive early or consider carpooling if possible. The retreat's remote location means there are limited alternative parking options nearby.

Are there any public transportation options to reach Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat?

Due to its remote, off-grid location in the Willamette National Forest, there are no direct public transportation options to Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat.
