The new government building in Minden was erected in 1902-06 according to plans by Paul Kanold and Paul Kieschke. In 1947 the seat of the district government was relocated to Detmold, after which the building was used as the central office of the Federal Railways. Today, the neo-Renaissance (Weser Renaissance) style building is known as the Old Government.
