The Obere Flambacher Teich is part of the power water supply facilities of the Rosenhöfer system, to which water could be supplied via the Upper or Lower Rosenhöfer artificial canal located below the Unterer Flambacher Teich. Built in 1701, the dam, approximately 6.5 m high and 216 m long, can impound a maximum of 118,000 m³ of water.
