    Hiking

A peak that is not very easy to reach, caution should be exercised along the way, but nothing too complicated.

Monte Lussuri and Cima del Cacciatore - ring tour

Embark on the difficult Monte Lussuri and Cima del Cacciatore ring tour, a challenging hike spanning 8.6 miles (13.8 km) with a significant 3921 feet (1195 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 6 hours and 33 minutes. The trail's terrain shifts from sparse undergrowth and conifer forests to rocky, bare, and open alpine environments as you ascend. You will navigate narrow paths, steep slopes, and sections with considerable ascents and descents, all while enjoying immense scenery that includes the picturesque Monte Lussari pilgrimage village.

This route is classified as a hard hike, demanding a very good fitness level, sure-footedness, sturdy shoes, and alpine experience. Be prepared for technical sections; the final ascent to Cima del Cacciatore involves a vertical climb on rock aided by a metal cable, requiring agility. This part is not recommended if you experience vertigo. The tour often begins from the cable car station at Monte Lussari, making it accessible for a day hike.

The Monte Lussari pilgrimage village, with its 16th-century sanctuary, is a key highlight and offers postcard-like views, earning it the nickname "the balcony of the Julian Alps." From Cima del Cacciatore, you are rewarded with exceptional 360-degree panoramic vistas of the Julian Alps, including Jôf di Montasio, Jôf Fuart, and Mangart. The trail also provides an opportunity to observe interesting flora, including some rare and endemic plant species unique to the region.
