After the failure of the Frankfurt National Assembly, there were uprisings in the Palatinate against the Bavarian government in June 1849. These uprisings were bloodily suppressed after the Bavarian king asked the Prussians for arms. The fight in Rinnthal took place on June 17, 1849.
