Embark on the Climb to Monte Armetta - ring tour, a moderate hike spanning 7.4 miles (11.9 km) with an elevation gain of 1823 feet (556 metres). This loop typically takes around 4 hours and 29 minutes to complete. You will wind between imposing rocky towers before reaching more open, sunny terrain as you approach Monte Armetta. The trail features vast grassy pastures and rocky sections, offering diverse scenery throughout your journey.
This route requires good fitness and sure-footedness, as some sections may demand careful footing. The return journey often includes a climb to Monte Pesauto, followed by a dirt road and a path through the woods back to your starting point. Be prepared for changing conditions; depending on the season, you might even encounter snow on higher parts of the trail.
The Climb to Monte Armetta trail is highly panoramic, offering expansive views of the Ligurian Alps from the summit. On clear days, you might even spot the sea and Corsica in the distance. A significant portion of the route follows the well-marked Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, and you will pass the Giorgio Carassino Memorial, a touching tribute along the way.
