    Hiking

Everyone knows the Garden of the Gods, but Red Rock Canyon offers a similar expanse of rugged rock formations for climbing and hiking near Colorado Springs.

Although there is evidence of the historic quarry scattered around Red Rock Canyon Open Space, this is perhaps one of the most prominent and interesting remnants. By this spot you get fantastic views down the canyon and over the huge shelves of rock carved into the cliff sides to remove sandstone blocks. You can scramble along the shelves, but please use caution! Many of the blocks quarried here are featured in some of the oldest buildings in the city and on Colorado College's campus.
