In 1931, 13 years after the end of World War I and 1 year after the enemy garrison had withdrawn, the 17 communities of the Thalfang district began building this memorial for their sons who died in the World War.
In 1962 the memorial was extended. The names of those who died or were missing in World War II from the villages of the Thalfang district were now also placed on a long sandstone memorial wall. The ceremonial inauguration took place on the Sunday of the Dead in 1962, November 24th.
