    Hiking

This knight's stone of the PWV stands in the Kranzeichen biotope protection forest.
It marks the place where oaks used to stand in a circle or "in a wreath".
Hence the name oak wreath on the stone.

    Hiking

One of the Palatinate Forest Association's more than 300 knight's stones is located here.
He points out the “Eichenkranz” (or “Kranzeichen”) forest section with beautiful, very old oak trees.
For Ritterstein fans: "The stone provided by the forestry administration was [later] included in the Ritterstein network as a landmark for hikers." Therefore, the typical Ritterstein abbreviation “PWV” is missing.
Source (partly quoted verbatim): Walter Eitelmann in "Rittersteine im Pfälzerwald", self-published by the Palatinate Forest Association, Neustadt/Wstr.

    Hiking

This area of the forest department was also called "Kranz-Eichen" (Wreath Oaks) because of the oaks that once stood there in a circle (formerly also called "Kranz" - wreath). Hence the designation "Eichenkranz" (Oak Wreath) on the Ritterstein. Oaks are still present in the forest area today. Therefore, the Spitzrain forest area southeast of Betzenberg is also registered as a natural monument.
