    Hiking

There's a gap there about 2 meters high, which you'll only be able to manage if you're a really fit climber! Otherwise, just take the bypass, which is MUCH easier.

    Hiking

This short drainage canyon connects to the much longer Buckskin Gulch Canyon, which saves hikers miles of hiking through less exciting sections of Buckskin just to get access to the more exciting parts.

Wire Pass has sections that are less than three feet wide. Due to Wire Pass's shorter canyon walls, the sunlight illuminates the sandstone walls more fully. Sometimes the sunlight can reach the floor of the canyon, which can create a reflection effect, making for some really cool photographs.

The Wire Pass Slot Canyon loop offers an incredible journey into a world of sculpted sandstone, making it one of the most popular routes for experiencing a slot canyon. You'll navigate through incredibly narrow passages where the red and orange Navajo sandstone walls, up to 75 feet high, display unique angular striations from ancient petrified sand dunes. The initial stretch along Coyote Wash can be sandy, but the payoff inside the canyon, with its vibrant colors and reflected light, is truly spectacular.

This easy 4.7-mile (7.6 km) hike involves a minimal 195 feet (60 metres) of elevation gain and takes just under 2 hours, making it a fantastic option for families and those new to slot canyon hiking. Permits are required for day use, so secure yours in advance. Always check the weather forecast for the entire region before heading out, as flash floods are a serious risk in slot canyons.

Wire Pass is particularly notable as the most popular and easiest access point to Buckskin Gulch, the world's longest continuous slot canyon. At the confluence of Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch, you can discover ancient petroglyphs, adding a historical and cultural layer to this geological wonder. It's an ideal first slot canyon experience due to its manageable difficulty and stunning scenery.
