“Laziness” was the name of an area of Bergamo, a side part surrounding the Astino valley, so called because it was not very sunny and the ripening process of agricultural products was slower, therefore lazy.
Originally the locality was "San Martino ad Pigriziam" that is San Martino alla Pigrizia, then over time it became San Martino della Pigrizia.
