Johann Gottfried Herder (1744 to 1803) was a German poet, translator and theologian. At the end of April 1771, the polymath began his work as consistorial councilor and court chaplain at the Schaumburg-Lippische Landeskirche. One of his favorite spots on the Harrl was at a fresh spring above the old forester's lodge.
The source seems to have dried up in the meantime, but you can still find a nice place to linger here. Benches and tables invite you to take a break.
