Castello della Colombaia. This ancient fortress is located west of Trapani on a small island. In all its glory, it is best presented from the quay of the Trapani port. Another name for Colombaia is Torre Peliade, meaning the Pigeon Tower. It was probably the place of worship of the goddess Venus Ericina, whose pigeons were sacred animals.
