The former Heinz factory is a historic complex located in the Troy Hill neighborhood along the Allegheny River. Founded by Henry J. Heinz in 1890, the factory was linked to railroads for nationwide product distribution. Heinz grew produce on company fields and sourced additional crops from local farmers while using greenhouses to develop experimental seeds. Built in stages from 1907 to 1958, the complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been converted into rental apartments offering stunning views of the city skyline.

Acrisure Stadium – Andy Warhol Bridge loop from Gateway

The Acrisure Stadium – Andy Warhol Bridge loop offers a quintessential Pittsburgh jogging experience, weaving through the city's vibrant downtown and North Shore areas. You'll enjoy continuous, iconic views of the skyline and the Allegheny River, passing major landmarks like Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park, and crossing the architecturally significant Andy Warhol Bridge. The route is predominantly flat and paved, making for a smooth run, but its 12.4-mile (20.0 km) distance and 378 feet (115 metres) of elevation gain earn it a difficult rating, taking about 2 hours and 4 minutes to complete.

Starting from the Gateway area, this route is easily accessible and part of the well-maintained Three Rivers Heritage Trail system. Parking is available in the downtown area or near the North Shore, though checking for event-day restrictions is always a good idea. The trail is suitable for year-round use, with portions even plowed in winter, offering flexibility for your visit.

This loop is a testament to Pittsburgh's revitalization, transforming former industrial sites into valued public greenways. It offers a unique blend of urban landscape and natural riverfront beauty, passing by cultural institutions and sports venues. The Andy Warhol Bridge itself is notable as one of the "Three Sisters" bridges, a unique trio of self-anchored suspension bridges, adding a touch of historical and artistic significance to your jog.
