In the Siepelveen nature reserve, as the name suggests, a peat area alternates with sand drifts. You will also find this beautiful water there. The word 'siepel' is Drenthe for onion, but onions have never grown here. The name comes from the plants that grow here, the beechwort, whose roots are shaped like an onion.
