The "Anholter bear forest" is located in the Biotopwildpark Anholter Switzerland and was built in 1999.
Four brown bears and five collar bears live on a total area of 2.5 hectares.
All bears came from bad husbandry conditions and were rescued by the IBF in cooperation with the German Animal Welfare Federation.
S.D. Carl-Philipp Prince of Salm-Salm agreed to provide the 2.5-acre forest, within the game park, for the bears.
