In Kronberg's old town, there are squares with fountains, for example at Schirnplatz, where a decorative fountain with a sculpture is part of the urban streetscape. Such fountains today serve more as urban design elements and enhance the townscape than as historical sources, but they are usually directly related to the late medieval structure of the old town.

The fountain is actually called Schirnbrunnen and is always beautifully decorated for festivities. This fountain was built in 1973 by donations.

Cycling

The Schirn fountain originally stood on the Tanzhausplatz and was moved here in 1737 because of the Streitkirche - fed by a higher spring. In 1888 it had to make way for a strawberry loading point and the construction of a water pipe. In 1973, a new Schirn fountain was built with donations from the Cronberg Rifle Club of 1398. The bronze sculpture is an enlargement of the work by Fritz Best, which is in the Fritz Best Museum. The fountain figure is called "Sunset" and represents a farmer's wife returning home from the fields.
